Explore projects in Critical Consciousness!
These projects examine how individuals—especially adolescents and young adults—develop awareness of social inequalities and engage in actions to challenge and transform them. Rooted in theories of social justice and empowerment, these studies explore how youth come to recognize systemic oppression, reflect on their social identities, and build a sense of agency to enact change. Many projects also focus on educational interventions, youth organizing, and culturally responsive pedagogy that support the development of critical consciousness as a pathway to equity, civic engagement, and positive identity development.
